BeetEurope takes place in Poland

The 2014 edition of the BeetEurope salon took place on the 2nd October in Dobieszow, South Poland. The event is run by Polish subsidiary of German company Südzucker, who work with most of the beetroot produced in the region.

Polish, Slovak, German and Czech planters visited the salon. The morning was devoted to harvesting, cleaning, charging and preserving of beetroot. In the afternoon there was a demonstration of tools to work difficult ground that is high in clay.

Material was exclusively German and included Grimme, Ropa and Holmer (which actually belongs to French group Exel), showing the influence of German industry on beetroot harvesting techniques.

Amongst the trends, it was interesting to see that constructors had limited themselves to 6 row machines. The attraction of the day was the Holmer tractor that is the solution for fields that reach 1km in length.

The next BeetEurope event is expected to be aimed at more standard sized fields, it will take place in 2016 in Picardie.
