International retailers join round table at PMA Fruittrade Latin America

A group of international buyers including Associated Wholesale Grocers, Costco Canada, Kroger, Sam’s Club Grupo Pao de Acucar, Spinney’s Dubai, and Tesco will participate in a unique “matchmaking” program, otherwise known as the International Business Roundtable, at the inaugural PMA Fruittrade Latin America, this November 12-13, in Santiago, Chile. Attendees, including growers from South America and neighbouring regions, will have an opportunity to schedule one-on-one meetings with the buyers thanks to software that will help match buyers and growers who are marketing a particular product.

The conference, which is the largest event focused on fruits and vegetables in Chile, is expected to draw 90+ exhibitors and 2,250+ attendees in its first year. In addition to the round table and the two-day exposition, a series of educational sessions are available to discuss global trends, market information and technologies specific to key commodities. The event is the result of a partnership between PMA, Fedefruta, the growers association of Chile and media group Yentzen Consulting to bring more value to the industry.

“This new collaboration is part of PMA’s strategy to help the industry build consumer connections by linking members to the people, markets and insights needed to grow business and increase consumption,” said Nancy Tucker, PMA’s vice president of global business development. “This event is designed to help industry members build connections – to experts, ideas, trends and talent – produce and floral companies can focus on building consumer demand for the products they grow, ship and sell.”
