US: Fresh apple holdings rise

With recoveries from states that had short apple crops last year, fresh apple holdings in the United States this year are larger than fresh apple holdings from last year.

According to data from U.S. Apple Association, fresh-market apple holdings, as of December 1, 2013, are 105.5 million bushels. That's a three percent increase over last year's holdings measured during December, which were 102.9 million bushels. This year's total is also eight percent over 2011's apple holdings, which were measured at 97.6 million bushels in December of that year.
