Carrefour reached 500 stores in Argentina
After opening two new stores in Argentina, Carrefour has 500 stores in the South American country. One of the new supermarkets was opened under the Market brand in Yerba Buena, in the province of Tucuman, and the other one under the Express brand, in the neighbourhood of Belgrano in Buenos Aires.
According to Daniel Fernandez, CEO of Carrefour Argentina, the company invested 800 million pesos (about 100 million Euro) in the country this year and plans to make investments of up to 1,000 million pesos (120 million Euro) in 2014.
"We will continue to enhance our presence in the country so we can be closer to the people," announced Fernandez, who also highlighted the positive evolution of the company's social and labour inclusion program, which offers people between the ages of 40 and 60, jobs and that was launched in the country under the name Yo Trabajo.
"In this program's first five months, Carrefour has employed more than 50 adults, assessing their experience and integrating them into a work environment where they have growth expectations," said Daniel Fernandez.
