Augusta's International Terminal Service

Italy: Only harbour in Sicily for big containters

The International Terminal Service in Augusta (in the province of Siracusa) is leader in Harbour Services and Operations in the Augusta Harbour.

It is also the only one in Sicily (the gateway to Europe for the Mediterranean) with a terminal for big containers, complete with wharfs and a stretch of water.

It is also recognised as deposit for third parties for temporary custody. C-type private customs and VAT warehouse pursuant to Law Decree 331/93 and the Excise Duty Consolidating Act.


Equipment.

The Harbour and the Terminal are the ideal meeting point for maritime transports of all goods travelling to or from the Mediterranean, Black Sea, Middle East, Far East and India, as they are located at the centre of the Mediterranean Sea in Southern Europe.

The line leaving from Augusta reaches: Libya - Egypt - Turkey - Algeria - Greece - Spain - France - Slovenia

No.1 that can be used in both directions.

Harbour:
100,000 sq m that can handle 300,000 TEUS each year.

Courtyard covering over 300,000 sq m
Length over 1,100 metres.
Depth between 14/16 metres
Length of wharf: 1 wharf measuring 302 metres.
Depth: 12.00/13.80 metres.
Time between pilot on board and mooring and viceversa: 25 minutes

Mobile cranes: No.3 between 100 and 120 T

Total area of the terminal: 100,000 sq m.
Maximum storage: 8,500 TEUS

Reefers:
No.180 power sockets, 144 of which on posts on Recs with a maximum power of 800 kw and the remaining with a mobile generator (containerised and silenced) powered with fuel oil.

Dangerous goods:
Maximum storage: 300 TEUS
