Dominican Republic: Banana exports will increase to $ 300 billion

According to the Minister of Agriculture, this year, the country's banana exports will reach 300 billion U.S. dollars because of the application of new technologies in the production of the fruit.

Engineer Luis Ramon Rodriguez explained that the adoption of technological innovations not only increased banana production in the Northwest and other parts of the country, but also of other crops such as rice and vegetables.

He said that this year's banana exports are expected to increase to more than 330,000 tonnes due to the increase of planting areas and the health checks performed by Agriculture and banana producers.
