The bacterium Psa, notorious for damaging kiwi plants, appears to be under control. The producers of l'Adour in France are positive about the upcoming season. The yellow and green kiwi are in good condition and at present, the kiwi harvest is in full swing.
In the Southwest of France, the plants had to contend with the Psa bacteria. After a period of uncertainty, technical support has brought back hope for the kiwi producers, says a spokesperson for Zespri France and Sikig, a cooperative of kiwi producers in Saint-Etienne d'Orthe, in the south of les Landes.
Prim'land, (30% of French production) and the Union of Cooperatives AdourKiwi France are convinced that the bacterium has been destroyed. Prim'land is also pleased with the Nergi, a mini-kiwi rich in vitamin C and edible without peeling. It is expected that this fruit will do well in Northern Europe.
