Unique opening of season with fun reception

Fortuna Frutos toasts Spanish and Canary import season

On the evening of Tuesday the 12th of November the unique opening of the Spanish and Canary vegetable season took place in Opticool Logistics' pilot. Fortuna Frutos has been specialised in tomatoes and cucumber from the Canary Islands and Spain for over 30 years, and extended their assortment in September 2013. Fortuna Frutos has two pilots belonging to Opticool Logistics at its disposal for the Canary products and the Spanish products are unloaded at ABC Westland in The Netherlands. Guests enjoyed a snack and a drink between the displayed tomatoes and other vegetables. The Fortuna Frutos team welcomed the guests and there was an amiable atmosphere.

Gert-jan Slobbe says: "This is the first time we have opened the season in this manner. This way we get to meet our contacts in a different setting and it's good to catch up at the beginning of the season. As far as the situation in the market is concerned: we hope it improves for the producers soon, because the market situation for both the tomatoes and the other vegetables is mediocre but inherent to this time of year."
