Damco appoints new CEO

Hanne B. Sørensen has been appointed CEO of Damco as of January 1, 2014 and will take over after Rolf Habben-Jansen, who announced his departure in September 2013. Hanne B. Sørensen has been with Maersk for 19 years and comes from a position as CEO of Tankers.

Damco is one of four businesses in Services & Other Shipping which consists of Maersk Supply Service, Maersk Tankers, Svitzer and Damco. The target for Services & Other Shipping is to strengthen the next level of businesses in the Group and reach USD 500 million in operational profit by 2016.

"The Group is fortunate to have highly experienced leaders to choose from internally. This makes it possible for us to maintain momentum and keep focus on the business," says Group CEO Nils S. Andersen adding: "Hanne B. Sørensen has successfully repositioned Maersk Tankers, which now has a clear path for the future and she will bring organizational and market experience to Damco, which is in the midst of rolling out a global operational model - One Damco."

Hanne B. Sørensen is enthusiastic about her new position in Damco. "Maersk Tankers is now ready to look ahead, so this is a good time for me to pass on the baton.
