Mexico: Walmex presented minimal profit growth in the third quarter of 2013

The retail chain Walmart in Mexico and Central America reported that its net income for the third quarter of 2013 was 5.295 million pesos (about $ 412 million dollars), a weak +0.7% variation, its accumulated profit growth throughout the year was also low, 3.5%, and there was no profit if the income relation is considered and one year to is compared to another.



Walmart's net sales in Mexico and Central America rose 1.9% in the third quarter and 3% in the period between January and September 2013. The company opened a total of 116 stores, of which 100 were opened in Mexico and 16 in Central America. 68% of Mexican openings corresponded to Bodega Express format.
