The National Institute of Statistics and Census (INDEC) reported on Friday that supermarket sales in September increased by 16.9% over the same period last year, on a seasonally adjusted measurement. At current prices, sales totaled 10,779.2 million pesos (1.83 million U.S. dollars),a 22.6 percent rise.
The rise was 1.2% compared to August of this year, in the adjusted measurement.
In sales by jurisdiction, the most significant increases were recorded in other northern provinces (43.5%), Salta (40.4%), 24 games of the province of Buenos Aires (40.3%), other southern provinces (33.6%) and Chubut (30.8%).
The Supermarkets Survey collected information from 70 companies located throughout the country.
