Veiling Hoogstraten was present at Fruit Attraction in Madrid. "We had a slightly bigger stand than last year," Jan Engelen explains. "Due to this bigger presentation we could show even more of what we have available, such as the specialties." He mentions that Spain is a market for Veiling Hoogstraten. "It is not a very big client of ours, but here we can always nicely fill up some gaps. And these are there actually every year."

"In addition to the fact that Spain is a market for us, many clients of ours are present at this fair," Jan continues. "Our most important clients are France and Scandinavia and these people come and visit here." According to Jan, Spanish companies will be here in preference to the Fruit Logistica in Berlin. They have sufficient visitors here and consequently there is a clear shift noticeable with the Spaniards. They prefer to be present at the fruit Attraction."
Middle East
The next fair Veiling Hoogstraten will be part of is WOP Dubai, which will take place from 17 to 19 November. According to Jan and director Gaston Opdekamp the Middle East is an enormously appealing, interesting and growing market. Jan: "Possibly the World Expo of 2020 will take place in Dubai. Never before has this expo taken place in the Middle East, but if that happens I expect something enormous, which we have never experienced before. Gaston: "In the end Europe will reach saturation and we will have to look further. The best is to invest in new markets now, so that the fruit can be plucked later."
