Guy Callebaut dedcates himself to certification of industry growers

In June 2013 Guy Callebaut was appointed new chairman by GlobalGAP. Guy Callebaut built up an extensive experience in the Belgium fruit and vegetable sector. He is vice-chairman of BelOrta, member of the governors of VBT and LAVA. He has also been growing topfruit since 1980. He started his career in marketing with various advertising offices. Since 2012 he has been active within the Board of GlobalGAP. In addition to his busy life of a fruit grower Guy certainly makes time available for GlobalGAP. "At the moment the harvest is almost over and I invest more time again in this."

"We are busy with various things. GlobalGAP want to concentrate more on obtaining the certificate in one-stop during the coming years: a single check must deal with the basic regular costs and the extra requirement of some buyers. GlobalGAP want
to limit its certification very consciously to the farm gate. The control and the certification of whatever happens during marketing is the area of IFS and BRC. They are our natural partners in order to guarantee the entire chain up to the consumer.
This certificate satisfies both the legal requirements of the government and the safety and social requirements of the buyers."

Certification for deep-freeze
"In addition to the producers of foodstuff for the fresh market we also want to satisfy the suppliers to the processors, such as deep-freeze companies and tinned vegetables processors. Many retailers request a certificate of vegetables destined for the industry. We are therefore busy with certifying deep-freeze companies, such as Iglo and Ardo. Our last aim is to invest in the IT-area and to use information efficiently, to process and to publish to the correct target group. With all these points our healthy common sense is the principle."
