For deep freeze fruit and vegetable supplier Ardo, foreign fairs are very important. At the start of October they were also present in Anuga, Cologne where they presented their new range of products. "Ardo's product policy is market driven and focuses on diversity," says Heidi Goovaerts, Group Marketing and Innovation Director. "New in the range this year are cherry tomatoes and oven dried tomatoes. We offer an Italian herb mix with red onion, which expands our Mediterranean selection. We found that there is much demand for this in the kitchen."

Vegetable chips
"We have also recently introduced our vegetable chips, made from parsnip and carrot. These have been based on fresh vegetables, basically just like potato chips. They are simple vegetables with a lovely crispy taste. Reactions have been positive, people think it is a great idea, and are interested to try something different to the 'ordinary' potato chip. We and our customers think it is fun to 'play' with the colours so we chose a nice colour combination."
Frozen avocado
This year Ardo also included frozen avocados in the range. "We have been asked more and more for these by customers since they could not always find fresh avocados. Frozen avocados are harvested just at the right time, matured and frozen and therefore always perfect for use. It's all about convenience in the kitchen." Ardo has three main customers: food service, retail and industry (food ingredients). "We have seen growth in all three sectors of Ardo," concludes Heidi.
