Dieter Schwartz of Lidl owns 13 billion

The richest Germans are owners of discounters

Never before were there more multi-millionaires in Germany than in 2013 and never before was their wealth larger. The Aldi-brothers are still at the top of the list.

The wealthiest German is the founder of discounter Aldi, the 93-year old Karl Albrecht, according to the list published annually by the German 'Manager Magazin'. In no other country in the world is there anybody who has been at the top of the list for longer, as announced by the publication.

Albrecht's wealth amounts to about 17,8 billion Euro. With that, he is wealthier than his brother Theo Albrecht, who already died and is in second place with a personal wealth of 16 billion Euro. The third place is occupied by Dieter Schwartz, owner of competing chain Lidl, with a wealth of 13 billion Euro.
