"Mariani Nut Company receives "A" rating from British Retail Consortium (BRC)"
The BRC food safety program has become the global standard for technical protocol for food suppliers and is being increasingly requested by retailers and manufacturers worldwide.
Mariani Nut Company was evaluated on all levels from receiving and processing to packaging in seven categories, many overlapping to create redundancy in the oversight. The areas included senior management commitment and continual improvement, a food safety plan including HACCP standards, food safety and quality management, site standards, product control, process control and personnel.
Mariani has always carried out a program of continually reinvesting in processing equipment and facilities and providing employee training. However, this recent exercise involved hundreds of additional employee hours and an increased level of commitment to pass this rigorous audit to assure customers of the integrity of products supplied by Mariani.
“Everyone at Mariani Nut has always had a strong commitment to the safety and quality of our products. This is another step to reassure our customers that we are unwavering in wanting to meet the highest standards by choosing to undergo a BRC audit,” says Gus Mariani, director of operations. “An important part of this food safety program is that company resources and personnel will work year-round to maintain these standards and renew this certification annually.”
