The German discounter Lidl has taken over the grounds of a former furniture shop in Hamburg, and plans to build a new 800 m2 shop and 180 room hotel here, reports the German newspaper 'Hamburger Abendblatt'. The area has a surface of around 2,500 m2 and construction will start at the end of 2014. The opening of the 20 million Euro project, which Lidl wants to develop together with oneVest Developments, is planned for mid 2016.
The goal is to great a building in which the Lidl shop is located on the ground floor, with a five story hotel complex on top. The planning application will be submitted soon.
