Italy: Cora Seeds Open Days confirms upward trend

The Cora Seeds Open Days took place in Cesena (Emilia-Romagna) from 5 to 9 August 2013- two days dedicated to foreign distributors and two days for Italian agents and distributors.

The upward trend has been confirmed, with more distributors abroad (therefore more countries involved) and an improved and widened product range.

The genetics are entirely Italian and the company is proud to welcome some new products.

Onions
CRX 2381 F1 (photo below), new hybrid of long-day yellow onions. Early variety with excellent skin and colour, comparable to the late varieties. Excellent shelf-life. "We will be very competitive in the spring yellow onions in the early sector," reveals the company.

CRX 3762 F1 (photo below), new red early onion hybrid. Deep red colour, good shelf-life and excellent productivity.

Watermelons
There is a lot of interest for Nikas F1 (photo below), a 2-3 kg mini-watermelon which is gaining popularity all over Italy thanks to its characteristics: it has micro-seeds despite being a diploid. Therefore the ease with which diploids are stocked is combined with seedlessness, as the demand for seedless mini-watermelons is increasing.

Sunsweet F1 (photo below) is a hybrid Crimson sweet watermelon with high productivity, excellent leaf coverage and homogeneous fruits. The quality is better than Top Gun.

Greenhouse tomatoes
VISPO F1 (photo below) are cherry tomatoes ideal for winter, very productive and resistant to TYLCV. Their excellent colour, exceptional taste and resistance to pathogens means they are very competitive at an international level.

"All of our guests were very interested in these tomatoes, especially the abundant supply produced as a result of our research," stresses the company.
