Spain: Seminis presents its new Piel de Sapo melon varieties

After 15 years of on-going tests, Seminis has presented the SV2060MP variety, already available through all its authorised agents, and another Piel de Sapo melon variety still in the process of being registered.

The event at which the presentation took place gathered around 200 people, counting professionals and producers, whose expectations were greatly raised.

The SV2060MP, with a transplant period between late May and early June, drew everyone's attention because of its wide harvesting window and great productivity, over 50,000 kilos per hectare.

The highlight of other new variety, still at the introduction stage and with transplant in early May, is its excellent uniformity. This characteristic, along with its perfect sugar balance and slightly rough bright green exterior make it a perfect Piel de Sapo for large distribution chains.

On top of these interesting characteristics, the variety has also shown great adaptability to various weather and cultivation conditions. Seminis is currently working on the legal procedures to introduce the variety into the market for the next campaign.

During the event, Seminis announced the presentation of new Piel de Sapo varieties adapted to La Mancha's conditions and resistant to Blumeria Graminis for late and early transplants in future campaigns.

With this, Seminis continues to establish itself as a leader in the production of seeds for the agricultural world and renew its commitment to commercialise products specifically adapted to the needs of La Mancha's growers.
