"It is an unstable point of the campaign in which the origin of the produce changes constantly, and this transition causes the low prices of the old fruit to clash with the high prices of the new one," explains Sigfrido Molina, Manager of Sigfrido S.L.U.
As for the fruit's quality, Sigfrido Molina points out that the year-end so far has been bad for Peruvian fruit, as it is arriving excessively overripe due to its high oil content; however, the Chilean produce does not contain the necessary dry matter or oil. "In early November, we will start with Spanish Hass avocados, which are expected to reach much larger calibres. The Spanish Hass is the most appreciated by the European markets for its quality and flavour, as it is matured in the tree. In the case of France, it reaches its destination three days after being harvested and processed, instead of the four weeks that it takes from Peru or Chile."
"The herbs are cut and processed directly in the plantations. They are washed and then packaged in flowpack with our own machines. We also use flowpack with mangoes and avocados," explains Christine Blondet, of the Exports and Marketing Department.
