Peru and Mexico would jointly export Hass avocado to Asia and the US
Peru and Mexico would jointly export Hass avocado to Asia and the US, said Milton von Hesse, head of the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation (MINAGRI).
The minister said that they would hold talks with officials from Mexico to establish arrangements whereby both countries could place their avocado production throughout the year.
"We're going to team up with Mexico. We are evaluating the possibility, in the specific case of Hass avocado, of teaming up to conquer the North American and Asian markets. Peru's production is in a time that complements the Mexican export supply," he said after inaugurating the First Symposium on the Integration of Specialized Agricultural Information and the First Agrarian Book Fair.
He also added that the health protocol being developed with Chilean authorities to gain access of Hass avocado into that country would be ready next week.
