Cesena Fiera, Italy from the 25th to 27th of September

Program announced for Macfruit 2013

Everything is ready for the 30th edition of Macfrut, the international exhibition dedicated to the fruit and vegetable supply chain, which will be held at Cesena Fiera from 25th to 27th September. Once again this year, the three-day event will cross borders: the 2013 edition will see an increase in foreign delegations, in particular from Mediterranean countries, with the participation of buyers and operators from the large-scale retail trade.

The exhibition preview will take place on Tuesday 24th September with a conference on the kiwi fruit (starting at 10.30am in the Sala Europa). Leading experts from the sector will gather for a day to analyse various aspects, focusing in particular on production prospects, new markets and the impact of bacteriosis on the economy.

The Mafruit show will begin on Wednesday 25th September, in Sala Europa at 10.30am, with a conference entitled “New relationships between the US and the EU: opportunities for the fruit and vegetable industry”, promoted by the Emilia-Romagna Region. At the same time, from 11am onwards, the Sala Gialla will host a presentation of the Italian-French food education project “Fruit and vegetables to be discovered, tasted and chosen”, promoted by Alimos and Interfel. Another two events will follow on in the Sala Gialla, regarding the production of fruit (at 4pm) and vegetable products (at 4.30pm) in Brazil.

On Thursday 26th September, a technical meeting is scheduled, which will focus on the topic “PDO and PGI – Quality products as the global thrust for the European fruit and vegetable industry”. This initiative will take place in the Sala Europa from 10am, where some examples of excellent agri-food products will be analysed. At 11am, the Sala Gialla will host a presentation entitled “Fourth-range products: innovative management solutions for food security and traceability”, followed at 2.30pm by a workshop promoted by AIIPA on the opportunities for fourth-range products during the economic crisis.

On Friday 27 September, starting from 10.30am, the Sala Europa will host a conference entitled “Toward 2020 – Opportunities and challenges for the fruit and vegetable industry between new CAP and GMO review”, promoted by Agrinsieme. At the same conference room, the 2013 edition of the exhibition will be concluded with the “Oscar MACFRUT” Award Ceremony dedicated to the innovative achievements in the fruit and vegetable sector that have been launched on the market since 2012. Four categories of products will be awarded: “Sorting and packaging machineries/technologies”, “Packaging and packaging materials”, “Seeds and fresh fruit and vegetable products”, and “Logistics and services”.

The Macfrut event will be held from 25th to 27th September 2013 at Cesena Fiera (Italy).
