The Green Valley Pecan Company announced that for fifth year in a row, it has earned the British Retail Consortium (BRC) Certification. The BRC Certification is a global standard used to assess food manufacturers and is one of the world's most prestigious certifications for food safety practices. Green Valley Pecan was awarded the highest grade possible.
The Green Valley Pecan Company was evaluated on food-handling processes such as receiving, storage, processing and packing of pecan nuts at its Sahuarita, Ariz. facility. All requirements for this global standard for food safety were met, making it the only integrated grower and processor of pecans in the world to hold this level of certification. The certification was made official on August 26, 2013.
"This certification reflects Green Valley Pecan's commitment to providing safe and high-quality pecan products," said Bruce Caris, Green Valley Pecan Company Vice President. "It's a tremendous honor and a recognition of the hard work of all 250 employees, along with an unwavering commitment from ownership towards continuous improvements in equipment and standards. These are the reasons why Green Valley Pecan achieved this certification and why our pecans are the best in world."
