Otto de Groot starts HDG Asia in Shanghai

The Dutch Expertise Bureau HDG, the fruit consultants, will open an office in Shanghai, China, on November 1. The company is already located in Holland and Portugal and has also founded collaborations in various countries. For instance, HDG has been working with Mooy Logistics under the name HDG Services for over a year now. HDG is specialised in quality inspections and international claim handling of fruits and vegetables. The latter activities are done by local damage experts worldwide. They assess the damage and supply a report with the facts. "Because we think it's important that this is done correctly on the spot, we have established an office in Asia," says owner Otto de Groot.

Start in Asia
"Our customers in South Africa asked us to start up in Asia too, as more and more is being exported there. An office will be opened in Shanghai on the 1st of November, where two Chilean quality inspectors will do their work. It is added value for our customers that these local parties have years of experience in the fruit and vegetable trade. This way problems can be identified even faster."

Working efficiently and reporting quickly
Otto de Groot once started out for the French Embassy, where he was the eyes and ears of the French exporters. "We kept growing ever since the start of our expertise bureau. At first we could only check certain ports at certain times, but as production and export increased, so did our work. Containers come and go, and because we have so much experience, we have more than enough expertise. Our biggest advantage is that we have people all over Holland. We don't have to travel everywhere, experts and quality inspectors are on location in no-time. This way we can work extremely efficiently and that means a quick report for the client," concludes Otto. "The customer comes first and we aim to be the best."
