Kay Bee shipping Indian Pomegranates

Kay Bee Exports, a leading Indian fresh fruits and vegetable exporter, is exporting strong volumes of Indian Pomegranates in the months of February and March. It specializes in production and marketing of pomegranates and is looking for newer markets like Russia, CIS and Southern Europe.

Kay Bee is expecting production of 300 tonnes from its own farms. Additionally, it is also sourcing fruit from its partner-growers. All production is Global-GAP certified and conforms to Kay Bee GAP. Additionally, it is the only exporter packing fruit in a BRC Grade A facility from India.

Peruvian crop being short this year, Indian sea-freight pomegranates are likely to be the only fruit available in Europe for the months of March and early April. The challenge for Indian fruit will be to find a market for its higher-priced fruit.

Kay Bee is a pomegranate specialist and supplies high quality fruit to customers around the world. Indian fruit, though expensive, is excellent in taste and has a very attractive skin finish with very little scarring. However, the local demand for the fruit is quite high, which makes export prices viable only when there is short supply in the market.

Kay Bee Exports has its own Global GAP certified farming operations in Ahmednagar district of the state of Maharashtra. Bulk of its pomegranates come from this farm but it has also contracted production with a few partner-growers. A lot of care is taken in growing the Pomegranates in a safe and environmentally-friendly way. Numerous IPM (Integrated Pest Management) systems are used to ensure minimum usage of chemicals. Both traditional practices and modern know-how are synchronized on the farm.

Kay Bee Exports ships around 1000 tons of pomegranates in a year.

Kaushal Khakhar, CEO of Kay Bee Exports has expressed a lot of optimism and is confident that as more information and research on nutritive value of pomegranates come to light, there will be a pull demand from end-consumers. Pomegranates are a rich source of antioxidants. Antioxidants in pomegranates include polyphenols, such as tannins and anthocyanins.
