Paulies Melissant of Bresc:

“Top chefs are excited about garlic purée”

Culinary products company Bresc from Sleeuwijk, Holland, in cooperation with garlic producer Kruiswijk, has been marketing fresh garlic purée since April of this year. “This collaboration allows us to supply buyers with fresh garlic all year round,” says Paulies Melissant of Bresc. “We make no concessions when it comes to taste.”

“The taste of our purée can’t be compared to any other,” claims Paulies. “Garlic from other regions and sources frankly just isn’t good enough. Production at Bresc is very precise. We want to make sure the freshness of all ingredients is maintained as much as possible.”

This policy seems to have paid off: “Our customers in the hotel and restaurant business are very pleased with our products. Especially top chefs are excited about the garlic purée. Our Beemster Garlic is already available at wholesalers like De Kweker, Hanos, DeliXl and Rungis.”

Bresc plans to introduce the purée in supermarkets and green grocers. “Beemster cheese is known to everybody. We want to do the same for Beemster Garlic. In places like Germany and Scandinavia fresh garlic is a common good, but in Holland it’s something still waiting to be discovered. It’s a discovery we are more than willing to speed along.”
