Carrefour introduces smartphone self-scanning

French retailer Carrefour is planning to let more customers scan scanningproducts instore with their smartphones. After a successful implementation of the technology in Ahold’s US operations, retailers worldwide are hoping to avoid large investment in self-scanning devices.

Other retailers such as the Metro Group in Germany, Auchan in France and Albert Heijn in the Netherlands have also already tested the smartphone technology in their stores.
