France: Better facilities for seasonal kiwi workers

Aquitaine represents 55% of French kiwi production. Every year, during the kiwi harvest in November, seasonal workers come from Spain to work in the Landes. However, once in France they live in very poor housing conditions over many weeks. Housing rights are aware of the situation and have come up with a scheme to better welcome the workers next year.

The new housing scheme will include lodging, toilet facilities and reception areas, enabling the workers to be welcomed under more humane conditions. The new housing should be up and running by next year.
