Polish agricultural exports growing in Chinese market

The Polish company Greek Trade Sp. is betting on exports. Due to the great interest in Polish products behind the Great Wall, the firm established cooperation with China. This year, Greek Trade exported several hundred tonnes of frozen fruit to Asian countries.

One of the fruits exported by Greek Trade is frozen currants. At the beginning, the volume of goods going to the Far East amounted to several hundred tonnes. The company plans to establish long-term cooperation with Asian companies.

"Chinese partners are planning talks with our representatives. They want to further develop and expand in the area of cooperation with the import of Polish products. We are very optimistic and look forward to further bilateral consultations on long-term activities," says Theodoros Siakas, President of Greek Trade Sp. oo.

As shown in previous reports of the Central Statistical Office, the share in the export balance of plant product groups in 2014/2015 and 2015/2016, including fruit (both fresh and frozen) showed a tendency to grow. Initially, in 2014/2015, it amounted to 20.8% and 9.7% respectively, and then in 2015/2016 it increased to 14.4% and 21.6%, respectively. What's more, the volume of imports has decreased, while the volume of exports is growing significantly.

In mid-2016, during the visit of the President of China to Poland, it was revealed that the country had a clear interest in Polish products. This is still the case. According to the statistics of the Central Statistical Office, in that same year, 78 countries were recipients of Polish fruit, mainly apples, compared to 57 countries in 2013, before the introduction of the Russian embargo.
