Suppliers purchasing Malaysian durian

China: Piles of unsold Thai durians - but prices remain high

According to Thai media reports, a routine quality check at a local market found stalls piled high with unsold durians. It is understood that this year, China's Alibaba Group purchased a large number of durians in Thailand for sale online. Therefore, the durian orchard owner sold to the vendor for a high price, causing the price of durian to continue to rise.

Thai Durian

It is understood that due to the unique climatic conditions of Thailand, it provides a very suitable growing environment for many tropical fruits. Therefore, many Chinese tourists are eager to travel to Thailand. The Thai people who saw the business opportunity once again raised the price of products, trying to make a big profit. The price of durians in many Thai attractions is even more expensive than in China. Therefore, many durians that are about to be exported are also unsaleable due to price increases, and imports volume of which from other countries are also decreasing.

At present, the durian in Thailand has experienced a serious imbalance between supply and demand. Despite this Thailand still insists on not cutting prices, and has accused Ma Yun and Chinese tourists of raising the price of durian.  Chinese tourists couldn't care less about this and Chinese suppliers also said that there is no room to make a profit from such expensive durians. In addition, in recent years, compared to the Thai durian, the Chinese seem to prefer the durian from Malaysia.
