China still largest export market for Indonesia

Global consumer demand for such tropical fruits as mangosteen, bananas, and pineapples is strong. Recent data from Indonesia shows that the country's export of fruit in the first quarter of 2018 increased by 6.13% in comparison with the same period last year. The overall export volume of fruit was 325,200 tons. China is still the largest export market for Indonesia, followed by Japan, Singapore, Australia, and the USA.

Sarwo Edhy, chief of the Bureau for Fruit in the Indonesian Department of Agriculture, stated that he expects Indonesian export to maintain the excellent conditions for growth in the future. Apart from this, domestic demand for fruit also grows continuously. This is in part a result of the Indonesian restrictions on fruit imports that were implemented in 2012.
