Tovano which is based in Maasdijk, the Netherlands, offers the well-known Diamond brand of walnuts year-round. According to Richard Strijbis, Commerical Manager at this company, holidays like Easter and Pentecost always ensure higher sales. "After Christmas, Easter is the most important period for unshelled walnut sales. People just want that something special."
Currently, Tovano gets the Diamond walnuts from the United States but the overseas season is just about to begin. "Easter (1-2 April) is early this year which will be interesting. It is not yet fully outdoor weather. People still want to embellish their dishes with nuts, tropical fruit or something to give it a bit of pizzazz. They want something a bit more luxurious on the table. We can provide this for them", says Richard.
Last year, according to the nut dealer, the 25 kg boxes introduced to their customers were well-received. "It is a nicely sealed box which can also be used as a display box. Tovano is the only company in Europe that offers walnuts in this manner. Our look is now, new and fresh."
