Pirecris is authorized to fight the Xylella fastidiosa vectors in almond and vines

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food and Environment has published an exceptional authorization for the commercialization and use of phytosanitary products based on pyrethrins at 2% and 4% to fight the Xylella fastidiosa insect vectors in almond and vine crops.

The authorization affects the Balearic Islands and will be in effect from March 15 to July 13, 2018 for almond crops, and between April 1 and July 31 for vine crops.

Pirecris, the natural pyrethrin insecticide developed by Seipasa, is an effective alternative to combat Xylella fastidiosa vectors. Its exclusive formulation based on natural pyrethrins and its innovative balance of Pyrethrin I and Pyrethrin II molecules guarantee the product's maximum efficacy against a broad spectrum of these vectors in larval and adult stages.

Pirecris is a registered insecticide (ES-00225) and it was designed based on a patented and exclusive formulation. The product's powerful and fast shock effect effectiveness is guaranteed by more than 80 tests in Europe, USA, and LATAM.

Pirecris can be applied a day before harvesting and it is suitable for use in integrated pest management programs. In addition, it is certified for use in organic production.

Baleares, in the focus
Baleares is, together with the Valencian Community, one of the regions most affected by this bacterium, which has an important pathogenic potential and that has a devastating effect on crops. In recent months there have been numerous positive cases in almond, vine, and olive, mainly.

The Xylella fastidiosa bacterium is responsible for several diseases that have very serious effects on many agricultural species. It propagates through infected plant material, that is, through insect vectors that feed on its xylem and transmit it to healthy plants. It also spreads through the trade and transport of plant material and infected insects.
