Above all, there is a lack of so-called smaller sizes, according to Marko Dutler - buyer and seller of the Swiss wholesaler Mundo AG in Rothenburg. “We mainly distribute the products of about 700 grams each. Sometimes there are no goods in the desired sizes, either in Spain or Italy. But the quality of the goods is still very good.”
Dutler: “Our advantage is that we are a relatively small wholesale company and we mainly supply regional gastronomy and retailers. As a result, the supply is still sufficient for us at the moment." Right now, Dutler is not yet observing any significant price increases in the broccoli business. According to the latest information, one will probably notice price increases there as well from next week on.
Traditional company
Mundo AG has existed since 1893 and since its founding has become one of the most important fresh food suppliers in Central Switzerland. The company attaches importance to agility and adaptability, as well as dynamism and risk-taking and so it is open to customer-specific wishes and special service. Apart from fruits and vegetables of all kinds, the AG also distributes dairy and frozen products to its approximately 1600 customers. Organic products and seasonal goods are now an important pillar of the traditional company. Later in the year -on 3 July 2018- Mundo AG will celebrate its 125th anniversary.
