Chinese domestic postal rates go up

Recently, the Chinese Postal Service Group, which represents state-operated express deliveries, circulated a notice among sellers on Taobao. The notice concerns their strategy for optimization of prices in the peak period of domestic high-speed parcel deliveries. That notice shows that express delivery service for parcels face the busiest time of the year when the holidays arrive.

That notice was part of Postal Service Group announcement, which introduced price adjustments for domestic parcel delivery services that are affiliated with the China Postal Service Group and Express Mail Service. According to previous stipulations, express delivery companies were allowed to adjust prices during the holiday season peak. Before the 2017 "11-11" shopping craze started, several express delivery companies announced price adjustments, citing the arrival of peak season as their reason. However, at that time, the China Postal Service Group had not yet announced that it would follow suit.
