For the production of potato machines in India

Dewulf enters into partnership with Mahindra

Dewulf, full-liner in machines for the cultivation of potatoes and root crops, announced it has signed a licence agreement with Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd (M&M Ltd) for the production and marketing of potato planters in India. M&M Ltd is part of the Mahindra Group, has its main seat in Mumbai, India, and is good for sales of 19 billion dollar. As part of this agreement, Dewulf will collaborate with Mahindra to market its renowned potato planter technology in India.

Potato planter
Globally, potatoes are the third most important food crop, with India being the second-largest producer of this product. Every year, more than two million hectares of potatoes are planted in India, which is good for a production of roughly 40 million tonnes. Dewulf has noticed India is increasingly focusing on processing the potatoes. The company is therefore convinced demand for quality potatoes will rise on this market. To this end, the local farmers should start using better potato planters. To meet this requirement, Mahindra and Dewulf worked together to develop a potato planter, which is currently being tested on site. With this machine, Indian potato growers can plant their potatoes evenly, resulting in a larger harvest, lower costs and better quality. All of this will increase the income of the farmers, according to Dewulf.

“We look forward to applying our innovations and technology on the second-largest potato market in the world. We’re happy we can count on a partner like Mahindra, the leading producer of agricultural machines in India. With Mahindra as our partner, we’re convinced we can transform the Indian potato planting methods,” says René Boeijenga, CEO of Dewulf.

“We were pleased to sign the partnership with Dewulf, a producer of world-class agricultural machines. Thanks to our licence agreement with Dewulf, Indian potato growers can be provided with the latest planting technologies,” says Rajesh Jejurikar, Manager of the department of Agricultural Machines of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, in response to this development.
