Record maritime export volumes

Argentina: Blueberry season update

Argentina is halfway through its current blueberry season which has set new maritime export records. The Argentinean Blueberry Committee published that numbers peaked in week 43, when 30% of that week’s export, was through maritime export.

In total, last week 1.870.871 kg was exported in total, of which most exports went to the United States. Interestingly, other than Canada, volumes to all destinations are slightly decreasing.

The last three weeks have had lower export volumes to all destinations in total compared to last season. Nonetheless, the total accumulated arrivals until last week are about the same as last year. Up to week 44 the total accumulated export arrivals to all destinations are 11.129.601kg compared to almost the same volume of last season 11.241.304kg.

In the latest press release of ABC, they sate that there is an increase in export by sea. Compared to 2016 it has increased 20% and compared to 2015 it’s an increase of 40%. Federico Bayá, the president of ABC is quoted stating that these numbers show the effort put into developing the logistics side. As the market prices are lower nowadays, exporters were forced to reduce costs.
