Israeli exporters join forces

Two well-known exporters in Israel, Aviv Flowers Packing House and Avniv have joined forces. Aviv has been exporting mainly flowers for about 40 years, while also dealing with Fresh Herbs and some exotic lines.

Since the merger two months ago, the exotic fruit branch of the business had grown significantly. Currently, all the exotic section is acting under the Aviv Harmonie brand, which is already a well-known brand.

Aviv Harmonie Fresh Produce represents the same worldwide well-known values of Aviv’s brand, which is mainly highest quality of produce, consistency in supply and customer driven operation.

Figs
The figs season started some 4 weeks ago . “The crop and the demand is normal”, explains Niva. This week we added the Israeli Bursa variety to the Broun Turkey.

These two varieties will continue till the Turkish season starts, and the season will re-start as soon as the Turkish are out of the market, going up to about the end of January.

Pitahaya
The first crop of yellow Pitahayas will be available next month. This product is especially popular in the USA and reaches good prices there. This sweet-tasting fruit is also known as Golden or Apollo Pitahayas. “It is less popular with the European market,” says Niva Ben Zion from Aviv Harmonie. The European consumers prefers the red variety, like the Venus and Bilu.

She added that it is difficult to predict how the season will go. This is because the weather is so unpredictable lately. Pitahayas are tropical fruits and as such, prefer, consistently hot, humid climates. If it becomes too cold, or too hot as it has been recently, it will affect the Pitahaya crop.
