Peru increases fresh garlic exports

Fresh garlic exports present an interesting growth in Peru. According to the Agrodata Peru website, between January and April this year, Peru exported 5,165,785 kilos of this product at an FOB value of US $8,509,018. The upward contrast is evident when compared to the 2,812,032 kilos worth US$4,246,810 shipped in the same period of 2016.

The main destination country was the United States, which acquired 56% of total shipments. It was followed by Ecuador (19%), Brazil (10%), Spain (5%), Mexico (4%), the Netherlands (2%), Switzerland (1%) and several smaller destinations that account for 2%. 

The main exporters were Olam Agro Peru SAC, which achieved sales of US $ 4,041,000, followed by Coproimpex SAC (US $ 810,000), Comercial Liborio EIRL (US $ 784,000), White Lion Foods SAC (US $ 503,000) and Capas Group SAC (US $ 58,000).
