Alanar exports 30 million fresh black figs by first week of October

Turkish Alanar exports largest fig volume

The Bursa black fig export season was still underway on 9 October, while most of the major exporters had finished early this year by September 20th, due to very early start of the season. Alanar will continue to export until 15 October and sales to its customers will last until the end of October.

Alanar has been Turkey’s number one fresh fig exporter in 2016, breaking the record of packing and exporting one million pieces of Bursa black figs every day during the peak season.

Yavuz Taner, CEO of Alanar said that “Alanar achieved its own objective by becoming the number one fresh fig exporter in Turkey again in 2016."

Taner has always been one of the largest exporters of both cherries and fresh black figs from Turkey. Today he’s doing this at Alanar together with his nephew Hamdi Taner, who is the general manager of the company. They´ve restarted the fruit export business 4 years ago with their own fruit production. Since plantings started in 2007, their business has proved to be a rapidly developing success story.

Alanar grows, harvests, packs and exports fresh cherries, black figs, apricots (patented varieties), sugar baby Malatya apricots, Japanese plums (patented varieties) and pomegranates of the Wonderful and Hicaz varieties.

Alanar and Y. Taner have also the privilege of providing full support to the growers, with whom they have worked together for the last 35 years. The integration of Alanar Fruit Company and Alara Nursery, both managed by Y. Taner, helped in establishing their own farms, coordinating contracted investor growers and facilitating the trade of fruits that are suitable for export.

The company has invested in 400 hectares of farms in 7 different regions of Turkey with different climatic conditions and different altitudes, thus, ensuring that the harvest and export seasons are as long as possible. Alanar’s modern fruit farms are an inspiration to fruit growers and investors and serve as consultancy centers.

One significant point that makes Alanar stand out is that it is the first to hit the market at the start of the season and is also the last to finish at the end. This has been a challenging experience during the 2016 fresh fig campaign.

Another reason for the success would be the strong team that Alanar possesses, "In our team we have Nigel West for global development; Hamdi is our general manager, who is an industrial engineer too; he makes wise decisions for the company. And not to forget my experience and background in food engineering. We have the ideal balance to face the future," says Y. Taner.

Out of 100 Turkish exporters, Alanar has actually managed to become the largest exporter of fresh figs and one of the top 3 for cherries within a 4 year period.

Its investments in machinery and infrastructure have allowed Alanar to achieve its high performance in harvesting, packing and exporting of fruits to 30 different countries all over the world, mostly in Europe and the Far East. But most importantly, its mission has been appreciated and earned the loyalty of its clients.
