Supermarket makes sweets less attractive for children

Supermarket Plus is making the packaging of unhealthy products less attractive for children. The cheerful childlike figures and letters are removed from the unhealthy products of the store brand.

Plus says that obesity amongst children is a big problem. According to the supermarket, this is amongst other reasons due to child marketing, the promoting of products designed for children.

Opposition
Together with other organizations the Consumers Association tries to oppose child marketing. The initiative of Plus is a good idea, according to the association. "It is not right that so much money is spent on tempting children to eat unhealthy," says a spokesperson. "Parents try to raise healthy children, but the industry works against that." The Consumers Association pleads for a prohibition of child marketing.
