El Niño hits blueberries hardest in Argentina

The impact of El Niño on blueberry stems is severe compared to other fruit as blueberries are more delicate.

In week 42 of the harvest, the volumes from Argentina combined to 1,222 tons which have been distributed between several countries. This is significantly lower than last year due to the severe storms this year.

Volumes from Argentina totalled 1,222 tons. The blueberries were distributed to the United States with 793.4 tons, Europe 161.2 tons, United Kingdom 219.6 tons, Canada 38.5 tons, with 9.7 tons being sent to Asia and remaining countries. Air shipments from Benjamín Matienzo Airport in Tucumán amounted to 459 tons, while sea shipments arriving on week 46 will add up to 18.9 tons for the United States.
