72% increase of Italian imports in Hong Kong

In 2014 Hong Kong imported a total of 3.9 billion dollars of fruit, a value increasing of 5.6% against 2013. The United States is the top supplier with 35.8% of the market quota, followed by Iran (13%), Thailand (11.5%) and Chile (10.6%). Italy is at 54th rank, and has increased its exports of 72% compared to 2013 for a value of 8 million dollars.

If we analyze the category, which comprises of kiwis, strawberries, berries, raspberries, ribes, blueberries and other berries, with reference to 2014, Italy is actually ranked 8th among the suppliers, with a total value of 8 million dollars, growing to 105% compared to 2013. On the whole, imports marked 559 million dollars, with an increase of 33.6%. Thailand is the top supplier for Hong Kong with 67% of the market share.
