Weather delays avocado export Peru

The harvest of Hass avocado in Peru is challenged by heavy rains and landslides the last month. Peru is already exporting avocados, but can't ship the volumes they would like to ship.

"These delays are a real pity as the fruit is developing well and the market is quite empty," explains Diana Sajami from FCE Export. Due to the empty market, the prices are also quite strong.

In some cases roads are blocked and workers have to empty the truck and walk through the mountains with crates of avocados to the next road where another truck will continue the journey to the packing house, in order to avoid bigger delays.
