Chile: Grape export sees mixed results

The Chilean Table Grape exports show a dissimilar situation between the third and fourth regions.

To date, table grape exports register a volume of 55.181 tons (source: SAG – ASOEX), this corresponds to an increase by a 6,5% in comparison with 2013/14 season. This growth is led by the 3rd region, which registers a 21,7% growth in relation to the previous campaign, product of good climatic conditions and absence of incidentals. We remind that a total export volume of 117.391 tons is expected for this region (+5%). To date, the 3rd region registers a 34% of advance in exportation in comparison with the estimation, figure close to the average of last three seasons.

On the other hand, the 4th region registers 20.106 tons of export, corresponding to 11,6% less than 2013/14. This drop is due to the water shortage and it is expected that, at the end, the region would export a 12% less than the 2013/14 season and a 26% less than 2012/13 (campaign when one of the higher volume was reached). The progress of exports corresponds to a 17%, similar to the previous season.
