Spain makes 740 million Euro from pepper sales

This season (from 1 September to 31 July), European countries have purchased a total of 623.38 million kilos of Spanish fresh peppers of the total of 626,63 million exported by Spain. 

The average price of all Spanish pepper exports is of 1.18 Euro per kilo; the total revenue from the sale of peppers stands at 739.98 million Euro.

Most exports are shipped to Germany, with 207.67 million kilos; 33.14 percent of the total, for which it paid 264.87 million Euro. 

The second largest importer is France, with a total of 90.06 million kilos (14.37%), for which Spain received 101.94 million Euro; an average of 1.13 Euro per kilo. 

Italy follows in third place with 78.23 million kilos (12.48%), for which it paid 61.89 million Euro. 

In fourth place we find the Netherlands, which purchased 64.43 million kilos (10.28%) from Spain, paying 78.68 million Euro, followed by the UK in fifth place with 43.34 million kilos (6.91%) and 53.38 million Euro. 

Poland is the sixth largest purchaser of Spanish peppers, with 32.69 million kilos, (5.21%) at an average price of 1.25 Euro per kilo and a total of 40.83 million Euro.

Seventh in the ranking is the Czech Republic, with purchases totalling 12.67 million kilos, for which it paid 14.23 million Euro; an average of 1.12 Euro per kilo . 

The Russian market only accounted for 0.83 percent, with 5.18 million kilos, 6.88 million Euro and an average price of 1.33 Euro per kilo.
