Honduras: Banana exports generates $ 163 million dollars

The production and export of bananas has generated 162.4 million dollars so far this year, according to the latest report by the Honduras’ Central Bank (BCH).

The report notes that currency purchases are mainly derived from family remittances amounting to U.S. $2.342 million, followed by the exports of goods, totaling 1,537 million dollars.

About three decades ago, banana and coffee exports generated most of the country's currency, but the Honduran economy has changed and there are new productive activities.
