Tunisia's 2025 citrus production is estimated at 265,000 tons, about 3% lower than last year, according to Imed Bey, President of the Regional Union of Agriculture and Fisheries of Nabeul Governorate.
Speaking to Express FM, Bey noted that fruit size is smaller this year, with about 35% of the harvest consisting of smaller fruits compared to 25% last year, although overall quality remains good. He said that different citrus varieties will reach markets within the next 10 days, and prices are expected to remain close to last year's levels. Producer prices, he added, are considered reasonable.
Bey also pointed out that changes in climate conditions have influenced fruit flavor, saying that "citrus has become sweeter," a trend observed since last year.
He mentioned that early marketing difficulties have been resolved and noted that the Mediterranean fruit fly had some impact on production at the farm level.
