A Myanmar durian growers and exporters association is set to be established following the organization of regional groups in six regions and states, according to the Myanmar Fruit, Flower, and Vegetable Producer and Exporter Association (MFVP).
The Myanmar Durian Grower Exporter Group was formed on 4 October, bringing together members from Yangon, Bago, Ayeyawady, and Taninthayi regions, as well as Mon and Kayin states.
"The group was formed on 4 October. It is a national-level group for six regions and states where durians are cultivated. Previously, there were separate groups such as the Kayin and Yangon groups. Now these six groups are merged under the management of the MFVP. Now, we have completed everything in our capacity," said MFVP Chair U Soe Than Min Din.
Following the group's formation, the organization plans to apply to the Directorate of Investment and Company Registration to become an official association. Once registered, it will be able to engage with international stakeholders and support the further development of Myanmar's durian sector, according to MFVP.
