Price gap between organic and non-organic onions widened

In traditional retail outlets (excluding discounters), organic yellow onions sold for 5.70 CHF (6,97 USD) per kilogram in April. Non-organic yellow onions, on the other hand, cost 1.68 CHF (2,05 USD) per kilogram. The price difference between organic and non-organic onions was therefore 4.02 CHF (4,91 USD) per kilogram (+238%). The price difference between organic and non-organic onions is typically high because the costs of organic onions are higher. It increased from October 2024, mainly because non-organic produce became cheaper.

Foreign organic strawberries pricier in April than in the previous ten years
In April 2025, a kilo of foreign organic strawberries cost 10.99 CHF/kg (13,43 USD) in traditional retail outlets. This is 3.6% more than in April of the previous year (10.60 CHF/kg; 12,96 USD). Compared with the previous ten years (2015–2024), this was the highest price achieved by imported organic strawberries in April.
